Cars are part of our daily life. They take us to work, travel, and meet friends. To keep them safe and reliable, we need regular care. In this guide, we share simple and practical tips. We focus on clear steps so we can understand and follow them easily.
Car care is not hard. If we follow the right schedule and check key parts, our car will last longer and run smoother. Let us go through the key points together.

Basic Care: Engine Oil, Tires, and Filters

Engine Oil and Oil Filter
- Engine oil is like the life support for the engine. It reduces friction and protects engine parts from wear. We should change engine oil every 5000 to 10000 km or every six months.
- When we change oil, we must also replace the oil filter. The filter removes dirt and metal particles. If we only change oil but ignore the filter, dirty particles can still flow inside and damage the engine.
- There are different types of oil. Full synthetic oil works better and lasts longer than mineral oil or semi synthetic oil. We check the owner manual and choose the right type for our car.
Tire Inspection
- Tires connect our car to the road. Safety depends on them. We check tire pressure, wear, cracks, and bulges regularly.
- Normal tire pressure is usually between 230-250 kpa. We can find the correct value on the driver door label or fuel cap area.
- Tires usually last 5 to 8 years. However, if the tread is worn or cracks appear, we replace them earlier. If the tread reaches the wear mark, we must change the tire immediately.
Air Filter
- The air filter protects the engine from dust. We replace it every 10000 to 20000 km.
- If the air filter is dirty, the engine cannot get enough clean air. Power drops and fuel use increases. In dusty areas, we change it more often.
Cabin Air Filter
- The cabin air filter keeps the air inside the car clean. It removes dust and small particles from outside air.
- We replace it every 10000 to 20000 km. When it gets blocked, the air flow becomes weak and bad smells may appear. Some filters include activated carbon for better cleaning. We recommend choosing this type for better comfort.

Advanced Care: Deep Maintenance for Better Performance

Spark Plug Replacement
- Spark plugs ignite the fuel and air mixture. If they age, the engine may start slowly or run unevenly.
- We check and replace spark plugs every 30000 to 40000 km. Different materials have different lifespans. For example, nickel plugs last shorter, while iridium plugs last longer, sometimes up to 80000 km or more.
- Using the right spark plug helps maintain stable engine power and smooth driving.
Throttle Cleaning
- The throttle controls air flow into the engine. Dirt and carbon build up over time.
- We clean it every 20000 to 30000 km. If we notice unstable idle speed or weak acceleration, it may mean the throttle needs cleaning.
- We can clean it at a repair shop or use cleaning spray carefully. Proper cleaning improves fuel efficiency and engine response.
Transmission Oil Change
- Transmission oil lubricates gears and reduces heat. Old oil can cause shifting delays or strange noise.
- We replace transmission oil every 60000 to 80000 km. Different cars use different oils. We must choose the correct type for manual or automatic transmission.
- Checking oil level and quality is also important. Good transmission oil ensures smooth gear shifting.
Brake Pads and Brake Discs
- Brakes are directly linked to safety. We inspect brake pads every 30000 km.
- When brake pads wear thin, we hear metal friction noise. Then we replace them quickly. Brake discs usually last 60000 to 100000 km. If grooves or uneven wear appear, replacement is necessary.
- Safe brakes mean safe driving for us and others on the road.

Smart Habits: Extend Our Car Life

Keep the Car Clean
- Regular washing protects the paint. We use proper car shampoo instead of harsh cleaners. Waxing adds a protective layer and reduces damage from sunlight and rain.
- However, we avoid waxing too often because too much treatment may harm the paint surface.
Maintain Interior Cleanliness
- We clean dust and trash inside the car regularly. A clean space improves comfort and air quality.
- If our car has leather seats, we apply leather protection products sometimes. This helps prevent cracks and keeps seats in good condition for a long time.
Avoid Long Parking
- If a car stays parked for a long time, the battery may lose power and tires may deform.
- We try to start the car once a week and drive for a short distance. This keeps parts lubricated and the battery charged. If parking for a long time, we slightly increase tire pressure to reduce deformation.
Develop Good Driving Habits
- Smooth driving protects the engine and transmission. We avoid sudden acceleration and hard braking.
- Gentle driving reduces stress on key components and lowers fuel consumption. Good habits make our car last longer and work better.

Smart Care for a Long Lasting Ride

We should choose professional repair shops and use original parts. Skilled technicians and proper tools help us get better and safer service. Good quality parts make a big difference in performance and durability.
Besides regular maintenance, we also check the chassis, suspension, and electrical system. These parts are often ignored, but they affect stability and safety. If we catch small issues early, we can avoid costly repairs later.
Car care is a long term responsibility. Simple checks and steady habits keep our car reliable for daily use. Let us stay consistent and take good care of our cars together, Lykkers. With proper maintenance, our vehicles will support our journeys for many years ahead!
